Updating your profile

Your profile is important because it lets others know about you, especially, different ways to contact you. Profiles help members find individuals with similar affinities. It is therefore important to update your profile.

Here are the steps:

  1. Go to and log in.
  2. Click on the My Profile Tab. You should automatically see your profile; however, if not, click on the Personal Profile link.

At this point, you should be able to see your Personal Info, My Interests, My Social Network Identities, and OpenID URL. Here is a video and instructions showing how you can update each one:

Personal Info

Updating your personal information is rather straight forward. Simply click on the edit link next to the Personal Info title. Within in this section, you can update your basic info such as name, email address, and telephone number. You can also set your time zone. This section also lets you set your location, whether you want to receive announcements, and position. The location and position help to locate colleagues with a similar affinity.

Once done click on the Save button.

My Interests

The second section on the My Profile page is the My Interests section. In this section, you identify interests that you have. When you click on one of your interests, you can see members who have the same interests. This is a great place to start when you are forming a team to work on an issue.

To update your interests, click on the edit link next to the My Interests title. Type in an interest followed by a comma. Once complete, click on the Save button.

My Social Network Identities

The third section of your profile lists the social networks that you wish to display. By clicking on the edit link next to the title My Social Network Identities, you can add or remove social networks. A majority of the popular social networks are represented.

When you add a social network, you will have to enter your account name for that network.


Finally, the OpenID URL is is a URL that will allow you to log into sites accepting OpenID.
