Finding People to Follow

Twitter is rather boring if you are not following anyone. Fortunately, there are many ways to follow someone. The majority of them require that you go to a user’s profile. The key is to follow someone who has something interesting to say. Here are different methods:

Following from a Search

1. Open one of your saved searches from within Twitter.

2. Either click on a username next to the image from a Tweet or click on a username within a message that looks like @skrabut. Each case should bring up that individual’s profile.

3. Click on the Follow button within their profile.

Following from your Timeline

1. Click on a username within a message that looks like @skrabut. Each case should bring up that individual’s profile.

2. Click on the Follow button within their profile.

Following from Suggestions

Twitter provides suggestions of who to follow based on who you are currently following. List provides basic profile information. You can find your suggestion list with these steps.

1. Click on the Who to Follow link from the toolbar at the top of the page.

2. Click on the View Suggestions tab.

3. Click on the Follow link next to each user you wish to follow.

Following from Browse Interests

It is possible to find individuals to follow based on your interests. Twitter has provided 24 categories to select from. You can explore your interests with these steps.

1. Click on the Who to Follow link from the toolbar at the top of the page.

2. Click on the Browse Interests tab.

3. Click on a category of your choosing.

4. Click on the Follow link next to each user you wish to follow.

Following from Friends

It is possible to add your friends or contacts who are already using Twitter. Twitter will let you search your Gmail, Yahoo!, Hotmail, AOL, and LinkedIn accounts. Here are the steps to make this possible.

1. Click on the Who to Follow link from the toolbar at the top of the page.

2. Click on the Find Friends tab.

3. Click on the Search contacts button for the email provider of your choosing.

4. Follow instructions on pop-up screen.
