Wyoming Beef Cattle Improvement Association bull sale April 5 near Riverton
The Wyoming Beef Cattle Improvement Association (WBCIA) state beef bull sale is Saturday, April 5, at the Pingetzer Feedlot between Riverton and Shoshoni at the Missouri Valley Highway Junction.
The association’s annual banquet is Friday, April 4, at the Riverton Holiday Inn.
The bull sale starts at 1 p.m. “Ranchers are encouraged to come early so they can check out the excellent offering of superior, performance-tested and proven bulls,” said Ron Cunningham, University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service (UW CES) educator in Riverton and serving Big Horn, Fremont, Hot Springs, Park and Washakie counties.
UW CES Livestock Marketing Specialist Bridger Feuz, who is vice president of the WBCIA, will present a talk about DNA and how ranchers can use DNA to improve herds and bull/cow selection. The 90-minute presentation starts at 9 a.m. at the feedlot.
“Numerous booths will also be at the bull sale so ranchers can see what the beef industry suppliers are providing to today’s beef cattle industry,” said Cunningham.
The 7 p.m. banquet is preceded by a no-host cocktail hour starting at 6 p.m. Profits from an art auction support the WBCIA scholarship program for college students. This year, the auction is limited to seven items, said Cunningham.
